Know the neighborhood

Tips for learning an unfamiliar neighborhood or area:

  • Take the time to drive around the unfamiliar area both in the day and in the evening.

  • Do you want to know what your morning commute will be like?  Get up early one morning and actually take the drive, the information will be worth the inconvenience.

  • Want to know if there are children for your child to play with?  Drive through the subdivision in the afternoon behind the school bus.

  • Are there any undeveloped areas?  What are they zoned?  What future development plans are already established?  What might happen in the future?

  • Are there any plans to build new roads, enlarge bridges, etc?

  • What schools do the children in the neighborhood attend?  What are the test scores/athletic teams/creative arts programs like?
